Wall-to-wall carpet in Dubai, measured and fitted
Wall-to-wall carpet for Dubai homes and offices, measured at a free visit and laid by our own fitters. We bring samples to your home or office anywhere in Dubai and measure each room; on fitting day any old carpet is taken up, new underlay goes down and the carpet is trimmed to the skirting. It suits bedrooms, living rooms, majlis, corridors and offices, and is priced per square metre.
Between 1 and 20 m a side.
Which wall-to-wall carpet should I choose?
Choose by the room, then the pile, then the fibre. Cut pile, with the yarn ends standing up, is soft and suits bedrooms and living rooms; a low, dense loop pile is firm and suits corridors and offices; cut-and-loop mixes the two and hides marks. As a rule, nylon wears best, polyester is soft and polypropylene costs least. The samples we bring to the free visit show what we carry, in your own room's light.
Bedroom: a soft cut pile, such as plush
Little traffic and mostly bare feet, so a bedroom can take the softest carpet: a cut pile, and softest of all a plush, dense and velvety. Plush shows footprints, which matters little where few people walk.
Living room and majlis: a dense cut pile
Guests, heavy sofas and people sitting on the floor need a dense, low cut pile, or a twist, whose tightly twisted yarn hides footprints. Both recover from furniture dents better than a deep plush and stay soft to sit on.
Corridor and hallway: a low loop pile
Everyone walks the same line, and sand from the door ends up here. A low, dense level loop wears best and, in a flecked mid-tone, hides dust; a deep pile flattens along the walking line first, and big loops can snag on heels.
Office: a low loop or carpet tiles
Offices take heavy footfall and rolling chairs. A low, dense loop pile suits meeting rooms and private offices; over cabling and floor boxes, choose carpet tiles. For an office prayer room, see mosque and prayer-room carpet.
| Cut pileYarn ends stand up: plush, saxony, twist | Loop pileYarn left in loops: level loop, Berber | Cut-and-loopSome loops cut, some left whole | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Underfoot | Soft; plush and saxony are the softest. | Firm and springy. | Soft, with a sculpted texture. |
| Wear | Good; a dense twist is the longest-lasting cut pile, a deep plush flattens on busy paths. | A low, dense level loop is the hardest-wearing; big loops can snag. | Good; the pattern hides wear and marks. |
| Footprints | Plush shows every one; a twist hides most. | Hardly shows any. | Hides most. |
| Pets | The safer choice, with no loops for claws to catch. | Claws catch in big loops; keep to a tight, low loop. | Claws can catch in the loops. |

Nylon, polyester, polypropylene or wool?
The fibre decides how a carpet wears, how soft it feels and much of what it costs. Here are the four common ones, as a general guide rather than a list of our range.
Nylon: the toughest synthetic
Nylon springs back after footfall and furniture, so it suits busy rooms such as living rooms and corridors. Where air-conditioned air runs dry, it can build up static unless the yarn is anti-static.
Polyester: soft, and usually less than nylon
Polyester is soft, holds its colour and usually costs less than nylon, but it flattens sooner on the paths people walk most, so it is happiest where traffic is light, such as a bedroom.
Polypropylene: usually the lowest cost
Polypropylene, or olefin, usually costs least. It is almost always solution-dyed, coloured right through as the fibre is made, so it resists fading, water and water-based stains, though oily spills and greasy dirt cling to it, and it crushes on busy paths.
Wool: natural, and usually the dearest
Wool resists crushing and keeps its look, but it usually costs the most of the four and fades in strong sun, so draw the blinds where the afternoon sun falls across the floor.
Wall-to-wall carpet or carpet tiles?
Wall-to-wall carpet is the softer and quieter floor, laid over underlay in one piece in most rooms. Carpet tiles lift out a square at a time, so a stained tile is swapped on its own and the cabling under an office floor stays reachable. Many offices use both: see office carpet tiles.

Can the same carpet go up the stairs?
Yes, if it has a short, dense pile: a short cut pile such as a twist, or a tight, low loop. Big loops snag on heels, and where the carpet bends over the front edge of a step they can open and show the backing. We fit stair carpet too: full stair carpet over every tread and riser, or a runner down the middle with the stair showing either side, and the landing can match the rooms. See stair carpet and runners.

How much does wall-to-wall carpet cost in Dubai?
Wall-to-wall carpet is priced per square metre. The carpet you choose usually moves the figure most: its fibre, its pile and how dense it is. Then your rooms, and how much carpet they take off the roll. We bring samples to the free measuring visit anywhere in Dubai, and once the rooms are measured, your quote gives the exact figure. For a first idea before the visit, ask on WhatsApp with your room sizes.
| Room | Floor | In square feet | Carpet off the roll |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bedroom, 10 × 12 ft | 11.1 m² | 120 sq ft | About 12.6 m², one piece off a 4 m roll, no seam |
| Master bedroom, 4.5 × 5 m | 22.5 m² | 242 sq ft | About 25.5 m², one piece off a 5 m roll, no seam |
| Living room or majlis, 5 × 6 m | 30 m² | 323 sq ft | About 40.8 m², two widths of a 4 m roll, one seam |
| Your room, 4 × 5 m | 20 m² | 215 sq ft | About 25.5 m², one piece off a 5 m roll, no seam |
One square metre is 10.76 sq ft, so a price per square foot × 10.76 is the price per square metre. The carpet column is worked out the way the counter at the top of this page does it, on the two common roll widths, 4 m and 5 m; ask at the visit for the width of the carpet you choose. A fitter can often use less, by fitting offcuts into alcoves.

What makes one wall-to-wall carpet cost more than another?
The fibre first: wool usually costs the most, nylon sits in the middle, and polyester and polypropylene usually cost less. Then how much yarn is packed in: a denser pile costs more than a sparse one of the same height, and lasts longer. Push a finger into a sample: the harder the backing is to reach, the denser the carpet.

Do I pay for the floor area or the carpet off the roll?
A room takes more carpet than its floor area, because carpet comes off the roll in fixed widths: your room, 20 m² of floor, takes about 25.5 m². Some quotes price the floor and build the offcut into the rate; others charge for the carpet cut. Ask at the visit which way your quote is worked out, and when you compare quotes, compare them on the same basis.

How is a room measured for wall-to-wall carpet?
We measure each room wall to wall at its widest points, alcoves and doorways included, and allow extra to trim at the skirting (the counter adds 10 cm to the width and the length). Carpet comes off the roll in fixed widths, most often 4 or 5 metres, so a room wider than the roll needs a seam, best kept away from doorways and the paths people walk: ask at the visit where yours will go.

- Doorway
The carpet runs to the line under the closed door; where it meets another floor, a threshold strip usually holds its edge down.
- Skirting
The carpet is trimmed to the skirting all round and tucked in for a clean edge.
- Underlay
Laid under the whole floor before the carpet goes down, and supplied with your new carpet.

Can I measure the room myself first?
For a rough idea, yes: measure the room at its longest and widest points, wall to wall, in metres, and put the sizes into the counter at the top of this page to see the cut and any seam. Order nothing from your own measurements, though: we measure every room exactly at the free visit, and the carpet is cut to ours.

Where does the seam go in a wide room?
Where it does least harm: out of doorways and the main walking line, where feet would work it open, and ideally running towards the main window, so light falls along it rather than across it. Both widths are laid with the pile running the same way, or they look like two shades. At the size in the counter, your room needs no seams.

How is wall-to-wall carpet installed on fitting day?
Our own fitters come on the day we agree with you after the visit. They take up and remove any old carpet, put down the new underlay, lay the carpet and trim it to the skirting, then finish the doorways. The work is never handed to a subcontractor: the Karpets team lays every fitted carpet.
| Stretched in (gripper)Hooked onto pinned battens round the edge | Glue-downStuck straight to the floor | |
|---|---|---|
| How it holds | Gripper strips, thin battens set with angled pins, run round the room just short of the skirting. The carpet is stretched tight, hooked onto the pins and tucked down behind them; carpet not stretched enough ripples. | Adhesive sticks the carpet straight to the floor, across the whole room rather than at the edges. |
| Underlay | Goes down inside the gripper, under the whole floor, and makes the carpet softer and quieter. | Usually none: the carpet lies directly on the floor. |
| Over tile or marble | Usually, yes, and the tile or marble stays underneath: the carpet is fixed only at the edges, by gripper glued rather than nailed, and at doorways by any threshold strip. The floor must be sound and level, because a loose tile or a step shows through carpet. | The floor must be just as sound and level, and the adhesive covers the tile or marble across the whole room. |
| Where it is used | Most homes, in bedrooms, living rooms, a majlis and corridors. | Mostly commercial spaces with heavy rolling traffic. |
| If it comes up later | Glued gripper and strips can leave adhesive to clean off, and a screwed strip leaves small holes. | More adhesive to clean off, since it covers the whole floor. |

How do I get a room ready for fitting day?
Clear out the small things: boxes under the bed, ornaments, plants and anything breakable. New carpet and underlay can raise the floor by a couple of centimetres, so a door that only just clears the floor may need trimming: ask about it at the visit. Many towers and communities ask for a work permit or notice from building management first. When you book, ask who moves heavy furniture such as beds and wardrobes, and tell us your building's rules.

Is wall-to-wall carpet worth it in Dubai?
For bedrooms, living rooms, a majlis, corridors and offices, yes. With the air conditioning on most of the year, carpet does not feel hot here. It takes the chill off a cool tiled floor, softens the echo in rooms with hard walls and cuts footfall noise for the apartment below. Tile or marble still belongs in kitchens, bathrooms and just inside the front door. Renting, or moving soon? A rug made to measure moves with you.

|---|---|---|---|
| Underfoot | Soft, and warm on a cool floor. | Firm and low. | Soft where it lies. |
| Noise | The quietest. | Quiet. | Quieter than a bare floor. |
| Upkeep | Vacuum twice a week; deep-clean yearly. | Swap a stained tile on its own. | Lift it, turn it, clean it. |
| Suits | Bedrooms, living rooms, majlis, corridors and offices. | Offices and open-plan floors: see office carpet tiles. | Rented homes and floors worth showing: see rugs made to measure. |
Bare tile or marble is hard and cool, echoes and carries footfall, and shows sand: it still belongs in kitchens, bathrooms and just inside the front door.
Looking after carpet in Dubai's sand and dust
- Vacuum twice a week, and more often in a villa with a garden.
- Put a mat at every outside door, and take shoes off if you can.
- Blot spills with a white cloth, working from the outside in; never rub.
- Draw blinds or curtains against the afternoon sun.
- Have it deep-cleaned every year or so; we don't offer cleaning ourselves.

Is fitted carpet a good idea with sun, pets or allergies?
Usually, with the right pile and fibre, though with some allergies a hard floor is the safer choice. As a general guide:
Strong sun: solution-dyed fibres fade least
In time, sun fades carpet, and dark colours show it first. Solution-dyed nylon or polypropylene, coloured right through as the fibre is made, resists fading best; wool fades sooner. Blinds, curtains or a UV film on big windows slow it down, and moving the furniture now and then stops a darker patch forming underneath.
Pets: a cut pile or a tight, low loop
Choose a cut pile or a tight, low loop in a fibre that takes repeated cleaning, such as nylon, in a mid-tone that hides hair. Claws catch and pull big loops.
Allergies: it depends on the allergy
Carpet holds dust and dust-mite allergen until it is vacuumed out, so if you choose it, pick a low, dense pile rather than a deep shag and vacuum often, ideally with a HEPA (fine-dust) filter. For dust-mite allergy or asthma, allergy advice often favours hard floors with washable rugs, so ask your doctor first.
How do I book carpet installation in Dubai?
Book the free visit with the form here. Tell us which rooms need carpet, roughly how big each one is and what is on the floor now; a photo of each room helps. We agree a time, come to your home or office anywhere in Dubai with samples, and measure while we are there. The visit and the measuring are free.
What to tell us
- The rooms, and a rough size for each: width and length in metres is plenty.
- What is on the floor now: tiles, marble, wood or old carpet.
- Home or office, and the area of Dubai.
- A photo of each room, if you can.

Book a free visitHow much does it cost to carpet 1,000 sq ft?
1,000 sq ft is about 93 m², but a home listed at that size has less floor to carpet: the listed size includes the thickness of the walls, the kitchen, bathrooms and balconies. Each room is also cut from the roll on its own, so it takes more carpet than its floor area. The price per m² depends on the carpet you choose; once the free visit has measured the rooms that need carpet, your quote gives the exact figure.
How long does it take to fit carpet?
It depends on the job, so ask us for the fitting time once your rooms are measured at the free visit. More rooms, a seam, old carpet to take up and alcoves to cut round all add time, and so does furniture left in the room. Ask when you book who moves heavy furniture, and clear what you can before fitting day.
Do you take up the old carpet?
Yes. On fitting day we lift the old carpet and take it away before the new underlay goes down. There is nothing for you to arrange: just mention it when you book.
Is carpet underlay included?
We supply underlay with fitted carpet, so you don't need to find your own; ask at the visit whether it is in the per-m² rate or priced on its own, and which kinds we carry. It makes carpet softer and quieter and helps it last. Polyurethane (PU) foam is one of the most common kinds, rubber crumb is firmer and long-lasting, and felt is dense. Under a busy floor, a firm underlay beats a thick, soft one.
Which carpet copes with Dubai's heat and sand?
A dense, low pile in nylon, the toughest synthetic, or polypropylene in a tight, low loop, where it crushes less. Sand sits on a tight surface, where the vacuum lifts it, instead of sinking in and grinding the yarn. Loop pile and flecked mid-tones hide it best. With the air conditioning on, carpet does not feel hot underfoot, and where that air runs dry, an anti-static yarn keeps down the shocks nylon can give.
What is wall-to-wall carpet called?
Fitted carpet in British English, and broadloom in the trade, after the wide looms it was once woven on; most is tufted today, but it is still made wide and sold off the roll, most often 4 or 5 metres wide. In the UAE many people call it moquette. All three usually mean carpet cut to cover the whole floor and fixed down, stretched onto gripper or glued, unlike a rug, which lies loose.
How long does wall-to-wall carpet last?
As a rough guide, five to fifteen years. A dense pile, a tough fibre such as nylon and a good underlay push it towards the top of that range; heavy traffic, strong sun and sand ground into the pile bring it down. Regular vacuuming helps any carpet last. This is general guidance, not a warranty.
Can I fit carpet in a rented apartment?
Ask your landlord first, and get the agreement in writing: fitted carpet is fixed down, so agree whether it stays with the apartment when you leave or comes up, with any gripper adhesive cleaned off the tile or marble underneath. For a floor you can take with you, choose a rug made to measure, which we deliver anywhere in the UAE.
Do you fit carpet in offices?
Yes. We measure and fit wall-to-wall carpet in offices and commercial spaces across Dubai, and carpet tiles where the floor needs to come up a square at a time, over cabling or floor boxes. Ask us about fitting outside your working hours, and tell us any building rules for contractors. The measuring visit is free.
Which areas of Dubai do you cover?
All of Dubai, from towers in Dubai Marina, JLT, Downtown and Business Bay to villas in Arabian Ranches, Jumeirah, Mirdif and Dubai Hills, and everywhere between. The measuring visit is free anywhere in Dubai, and we fit wall-to-wall carpet in Dubai only.
