Floor carpet for Dubai homes and offices
Floor carpet is not one product. Wall-to-wall, stair, sisal and jute, outdoor, exhibition and mosque carpet, office carpet tiles and artificial grass each suit a different floor; this page shows which suits yours. For fitted carpet flooring, we bring samples to a free measuring visit in Dubai, and our own fitters take up any old carpet, lay underlay where it is needed and fit the new carpet. Rugs are made in any size and delivered across the UAE.
What types of floor carpet do you fit in Dubai?
We fit eight kinds of carpet flooring in Dubai, each with its own page below, laid by our own fitters. Rugs make nine: not fitted, but made in any size and delivered anywhere in the UAE. Pick a card for where each suits and how to book.
Wall-to-wall carpet

Which floor carpet suits which room?
Match the carpet to the traffic and to what the room is for. Bedrooms can take the softest carpet; a living room or majlis needs a dense pile that resists crushing under furniture; entrance halls, corridors and stairs need the hardest-wearing; offices suit carpet tiles or a low loop pile, the yarn left in tight loops. Balconies need outdoor carpet or grass, and prayer halls mosque carpet. Pick a room of a home or office below.
Bedroom: the softest pile
Bare feet and few footsteps let a bedroom have the softest carpet in the house: a cut pile (the yarn ends standing up), or a dense plush, fitted wall to wall. Carpet also makes a tiled bedroom quieter and warmer underfoot. See fitted bedroom carpet.
Living room and majlis: a dense pile
The living room (in many Dubai homes, the hall) and the majlis seat guests on sofas and on the floor. A short, dense cut pile resists crushing, so dents from furniture lift more easily, and it stays comfortable to sit on. See living room and majlis carpet.
Entrance hall and corridor: a tight loop
A corridor or entrance hall takes every footstep on one path, plus the sand carried in from outside. A tight, low loop pile stands up to both: sand stays on top, where the vacuum lifts it. On a tiled corridor, a runner made to any length needs no fitting at all.
Stairs: full carpet or a runner
A staircase takes more wear than any floor, most of it on the front edge of each step. Choose full carpet over every step, or a runner with the stair showing either side; either way, a dense, low pile grips best. See stair carpet and runners.
Office: tiles or a low loop
Rolling chairs and all-day footfall make an office one of the hardest-working floors. Carpet tiles suit open-plan floors over cabling and floor boxes, because one tile lifts out on its own; a low loop pile, fitted wall to wall, suits meeting rooms. See office carpet and carpet tiles.
How do the carpet types compare?
Wall-to-wall carpet is the soft, all-round choice indoors. Carpet tiles and loop piles take the hardest wear; sisal and jute bring a natural weave but dislike water; outdoor carpet and artificial grass are made for sun and washing down. The table shows where each type suits, where it does not, and what it is priced by.
| Type | Suits | Not for | Priced by |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wall-to-wall carpet | Bedrooms, living rooms, majlis, offices, hotel rooms. | Kitchens, bathrooms, balconies. | Per m² |
| Stair carpet and runners | Villa and townhouse staircases, and their landings. | Outdoor steps, which need outdoor carpet. | By your stairs, as measured |
| Sisal and jute | Living rooms, bedrooms and studies; on stairs, a flat-woven sisal whose texture grips. | Kitchens, bathrooms, spills, pets that scratch. | Per m²; jute rugs per piece |
| Outdoor carpet | Balconies, terraces and roofs. | Indoor rooms that want a soft pile. | Per m²; outdoor rugs per piece |
| Office carpet tiles | Offices, shops, open-plan floors, hotel corridors. | Bedrooms that want a deep, soft pile. | Per m² |
| Exhibition and red event carpet | Stands, aisles, entrances and event walkways. | Permanent floors. | By the stand's size |
| Mosque carpet | Mosques, and prayer rooms in offices and villas. | Rooms where shoes are worn. | Per m² |
| Artificial grass | Balconies, gardens, roofs, and play areas in shade: in full summer sun it gets too hot for bare feet. | Living rooms and bedrooms. | By the grass and the area |
| Rugs | Tile, marble and wood floors, over an anti-slip underlay; rented homes. | Stairs, and rooms you want covered wall to wall. | Per piece |
Each type's name opens its own page. To price a fitted floor, book the free measuring visit in Dubai or ask on WhatsApp; to price a rug, send its size on WhatsApp.
What goes on a balcony, in a prayer hall or on a stand?
Beyond the rooms of a home, carpet takes sun and washing down, daily prayer in rows, or a few days of show footfall. Each job has its own kind.
Balcony and terrace: outdoor carpet or grass
Indoor carpet does not belong outside, where sun, heat, sand and washing down ruin it. Fit outdoor carpet made for the weather, lay artificial grass, or put down a weatherproof rug. See outdoor carpet and rugs and artificial grass.
Prayer hall or prayer room: mosque carpet
A prayer hall takes daily use, with worshippers standing, bowing, prostrating and sitting in rows. Mosque carpet is made for that use, and is often patterned with lines or arches that mark each row. See mosque and prayer-room carpet.
Exhibition stand: exhibition carpet
A stand needs carpet for days, not years, laid flat and clean for the opening. Exhibition carpet is usually thin and plain, often needle-punch: fibres felted into a flat sheet, with no pile. We lay it at the venue and lift it after the show on request. See exhibition and event carpet.
Wall-to-wall, broadloom, moquette: are they the same?
Near enough. Broadloom is carpet made wide and sold off the roll; a carpet roll is most often 4 or 5 metres wide. Laid edge to edge, it is wall-to-wall carpet: full-room carpet, which many people in the UAE call moquette, from the French. In a room wider than the roll, two widths are joined with a seam, placed where feet and doors will not work it open.

Carpet or rug: what is the difference?
A carpet, in the flooring trade, is fitted: cut to the room and laid wall to wall, usually over underlay. A rug is a loose piece in a set size that lies on the floor you already have. In the UAE the two words are often swapped, and a large rug is sold as a carpet. Fitted carpet suits a home you will stay in; a rug moves house with you, and ours are made to any size.
| Fitted carpetCut to the room, held at the edges | RugA loose piece, made to your size | |
|---|---|---|
| Covers | The whole floor, wall to wall. | The area you choose, with floor showing round it. |
| Fixed or loose | Held at the edges; it stays when you move out. | Loose: it lifts, rolls up and moves with you. |
| Suits | A home you own or will stay in; bedrooms, stairs, offices. | A rented flat, a marble floor worth showing, a room you may change. |
How a rug order works
- Choose the shape (rectangle, round or runner) and the size in centimetres.
- Send it on WhatsApp with the room and the colour or style you have in mind.
- Confirm the order there, and pay in cash or by a payment link.
- We deliver it anywhere in the UAE.

How do I choose carpet for a Dubai home or office?
Choose in this order: how busy the floor is, then the pile, then the fibre, then the colour. Dubai adds three things to weigh: fine sand tracked in from outside, strong sun through big windows that fades carpet (strong and dark colours most), and air conditioning most of the year, which makes bare tile cold underfoot. At the visit, try the samples where the sun falls on the floor.
Before you choose, think about
- Who walks there: shoes or bare feet, children, pets.
- Where the sun falls on the floor, and for how long.
- What is on the floor now: tile, marble, wood, bare concrete (screed) or old carpet.
- Heavy furniture, and office chairs on castors.
- How long you plan to stay: fitted carpet stays with the home.

Which carpet pile: cut, loop, plush, textured or shag?
Pile is the yarn that stands up from the backing: how it is finished and how tall it stands decide how soft a carpet feels and how well it wears. Flat-woven carpet such as sisal has no pile at all.
Cut pile and textured carpet
Cut pile, the yarn ends standing up, is soft and even, and the most common pile in homes. Textured carpet is a cut pile with twisted, kinked yarn, so its uneven surface hides footprints and sand, through a living room or a whole house.
Loop pile and low pile
Loop pile, the yarn left in loops, is firm and usually the hardest-wearing, which suits corridors and offices. Height matters too: a low pile carpet wears best in busy rooms and vacuums clean, because sand stays on top. Avoid loops with cats and dogs, whose claws catch and pull them.
Plush, high pile and shag
Plush, or velvet, is a dense cut pile with a smooth, level surface: one of the softest carpets, and it shows every footprint. A thick, high pile or a shag, with long, loose yarn, feels soft but flattens in walkways and holds dust, so keep it to bedrooms and quiet rooms.
Which fibre: nylon, polyester, wool or polypropylene?
Nylon is the most resilient synthetic, the best at recovering from feet and furniture. Polyester feels soft, keeps its colour and usually costs less, though it flattens faster on walking paths. Wool is warm and slow to show dirt, and usually costs the most. Polypropylene shrugs off water, which is why much outdoor carpet is made of it. Room by room: choosing wall-to-wall carpet.

Which carpet colour hides Dubai's dust?
Mid-tones hide it best: beige carpet, greige (grey-beige), mid-grey or soft brown, and they sit well with the stone and marble around them. Very dark carpet shows lint and fades where the sun falls; very light carpet shows every mark. Flecked, textured and patterned carpet designs hide the most.

How do I book a free measuring visit in Dubai?
Tell us the carpet you have in mind, or just the room, and a rough size (a guess is fine), with the form here or on WhatsApp. We set a time and come to you with samples in Dubai, and measure on the spot. The visit is free, and you don't need a tape measure or a carpet chosen before we arrive.
Outside Dubai with outdoor carpet, artificial grass, exhibition or mosque carpet? Send the details on WhatsApp first and we'll tell you whether we can take the job. A rug needs no visit at all: order it with the rug form.

Book a free visitWhat is the best type of carpet for a home in Dubai?
It depends on the room, but if you want one carpet through a whole house or apartment, choose a dense cut pile in nylon or polyester, in a mid-tone such as beige or grey. It is soft enough for bedrooms, tough enough for a living room, and hides Dubai's fine dust. If you mix, keep plush to bedrooms and a low loop to busy corridors.
What is the most popular type of carpet?
For homes, cut pile is the most common, usually in polypropylene, polyester or nylon, and often in a textured finish of twisted yarn that hides footprints. Offices mostly choose carpet tiles or a low loop pile, which take rolling chairs and heavy footfall. Popular is not the same as right for your room, though, so choose by its traffic first.
What is the most durable type of carpet?
For hard wear, a low, dense loop pile in nylon is hard to beat, and a carpet-tile floor lasts longest in a busy office, because worn or stained tiles are swapped or moved on their own. Sisal is very hard-wearing too, though water marks it. Deep, soft piles are the least durable; they flatten along the paths people walk.
Which carpet is easiest to clean?
A dense, low pile in a synthetic fibre. Polypropylene and polyester resist most water-based stains, though oily stains cling to them, and nylon with a stain-resist treatment takes repeated cleaning. Sand sits on top of a tight pile, where the vacuum lifts it; a deep shag holds it. Sisal and jute are the hardest to clean, because water marks them, so blot spills rather than scrub.
Which carpet is best with cats and dogs?
A cut pile in a tough synthetic with a stain-resist finish, such as nylon or polyester, in a mid-tone or flecked colour that hides hair. Avoid loop piles and sisal with cats and dogs, because claws catch in the loops and the weave and pull them. For a pet's own corner, a rug that can be lifted and cleaned is the easy answer.
What are floor carpets made of?
Most carpet is tufted: yarn punched through a backing and locked in with latex and a second backing. Woven carpet is made on a loom, yarn and backing together, and needle-punch, used at exhibitions, is fibre felted flat with no pile. The yarn is usually nylon, polyester, polypropylene or wool; sisal and jute are plant fibres woven with no pile. Carpet tiles have a heavy backing that holds them flat. Underlay is a separate layer under fitted carpet.
Is carpet or tile better in Dubai's heat?
Tile and marble are cool, easy to mop and right for kitchens, bathrooms and the floor inside the front door. Carpet suits the rest of the home: with the air conditioning on most of the year, carpet is not hot underfoot; it takes the chill off the floor, quietens hard-walled rooms and cuts footfall noise for the flat below. Many Dubai homes keep tile in the kitchen and at the door, and carpet the bedrooms, stairs and majlis.
Can carpet be fitted over tiles or marble?
Usually, yes, with the tile or marble left in place. Fitted carpet is stretched over underlay and held at the edges on gripper strips, which on tile or marble are usually glued rather than nailed; the glue can mark polished marble when lifted, and doors may need trimming for the extra height. Carpet tiles sit on a tackifier, a light adhesive that lets each tile lift. The floor must be sound and level; tell us what is on it.
How long does floor carpet last?
As a rough guide, fitted carpet lasts five to fifteen years, longer with a dense pile, a tough fibre and good underlay, and shorter on a busy staircase or in strong sun. Carpet tiles can last longer on an office floor. Regular vacuuming to lift Dubai's sand helps any carpet last.
How much does floor carpet cost in Dubai?
It depends on the type, the yarn and pile you choose, and how much cutting the floor takes: stairs and alcoves take more. Fitted carpet and carpet tiles are priced per square metre, stair carpet by your stairs as measured, and rugs per piece. The free measuring visit in Dubai gives your exact price for a fitted floor, and you can ask on WhatsApp before booking; a rug is priced on WhatsApp from its size.
